Jeni Diekman BPharm, Dip Hosp Pharm, MSc, MBA, PCCA (US) Certificate of Compounding, AACPA
Jeni is passionate about providing the very best pharmacy and compounding services. In 2003 in preparation for opening her first compounding pharmacy in Broadway she undertook specialist training in Compounding at the Professional Compounding Centers of America in Houston, Texas. Through compounding Jeni encourages her professional staff to work with medical practitioners to manage a variety of difficult medical problems including paediatric reflux, pain management, skin problems (both therapeutic and aesthetic) and hormone replacement.
Jeni is also an accredited Home Medicine Review pharmacist. She is determined to lead her pharmacies to provide advanced pharmacy practice. She instils in her staff the motto “make every contact count” – as front line health professionals we can help our customers take more responsibility for their own health to achieve “wellness”, prevent major disease, detect disease early and self manage chronic illness and minor ailments.
Jeni has had a broad career in pharmacy and healthcare. She commenced her career as a hospital pharmacist specialising as an oncology pharmacist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. She was co-editor of three editions of “Clinical Guidelines for the Use of Antineoplastic Agents” which was distributed to every Australian hospital.
Jeni was the project pharmacist charged with developing the Pharmaceutical Society’s Self Care Program a leading health information resource available in pharmacies throughout Australia. Jeni has also held management roles in private pathology companies, the Medical Defence Union and the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.
Ann Touchard BPharm PCCA Certificate of Compounding Chemist
Ann joined Fresh Therapeutics in 2003 as a compounding pharmacist at Broadway. In 2005 Jeni offered Ann partnership because she shared her passion for the profession, compounding and her customers.
Ann then moved to Bondi to establish Fresh Therapeutics Bondi and several of her “regulars” from Broadway have followed her there. Ann does make every contact count with every customer. She will spend the time it takes to help that person understand how their treatment works and how to get the most out of it. She can identify when something in that person’s lifestyle is amiss and recommends appropriate Practitioner Only ranges to complement prescribed ones, to help optimise their therapy.
Ann always makes time for patients in need. It is not unusual to find Ann visiting one of her special patients after hours simply because they need her to, and because to Ann, life is about meaning, about helping people when you can. There is often a queue at Bondi for people who want to consult with “Ann”. Compounding is also Ann’s passion. She will work with a formulation and it’s prescriber until the compound is “just right”. Ann has that special ingredient she adds to everything she makes – she calls it love.
Pharmacists in Charge
Jenny BPharm PCCA Certificate of Compounding Chemist
Jenny’s compounded creams are sought after by several of our cosmetic physicians and dermatologists whose patients appreciate the texture and appearance that results from the time Jenny spends grinding and mixing the active ingredients and incorporating them gently into the best bases.
Jenny has been part of the Fresh team since she was a student. After taking a short time off to start her family Jenny has returned with a new passion for paediatric compounding.
Kristy BSc MPharm PCCA Certificate of Compounding Chemist
Before commencing pharmacy Kristy studied and achieved a Bachelor of Science majoring in pharmacology and physiology. She became passionate about pharmacology as she was always fascinated with how drugs could manipulate and change processes in the body. She is especially interested in mental health because her physiology major was in neuroscience. She says “I wanted to work at Fresh because I think compounding is a great and unique way of catering to patients needs and delivering quality use of medicine. At Fresh Therapeutics patients have access to high quality products and information to take their health into their own hands. I think that it is an important part of pharmacy that people are provided with the right resources and information so that they are able to do this. This year I want to strive to educate our customers about their health conditions as well as appropriate medication use so they have the knowledge and information to feel empowered about changing their health status.”
Senior Dispensary Technician
Kate Certificate III in Community Pharmacy
Kate commenced as the pharmacy junior and has grown up at Fresh Therapeutics to become the Senior Dispensary Technician and OTC buyer for the Fresh Therapeutics group. She is that friendly face that greets many of our “regulars” with their name and knowledge of what is important in their lives. She says she wants her customers to have comfort in the fact that she cares about their health and wellbeing. Kate has an intimate knowledge of the National Diabetes Supply Scheme (NDSS) and the range of diabetes products we stock in line with the Australian Diabetes Council shop.
Kate is the one that takes the extra time to explain how to use a Medela Breast pump, the benefits of the weight watchers program or does the measurement to get the correct fitting compression stocking. She is the one that will chase up that product that is difficult to find and will follow up when it has arrived. She loves looking after our young Mums- she’ll do the baby weighing and make sure our FREE Hello Bebe bags have arrived.
As a service to the profession each year we train at least two Pharmacy graduates in the art of compounding, providing professional services (including medication management, dispensing, responding to symptoms and wellness management). We are extremely choosy about the competencies of the graduates we select.
We believe the earlier a pharmacists starts their training the better even before they graduate. With this in mind we employ several pharmacy students to assist with their studies and ambition to become great pharmacists.
Liana is a very special member of the team at Fresh responsible for doing a lot of the background tasks to keep the pharmacy running well such as keeping the shelves and sinks clean, packing the troche bags to make sure they contain the Hormone Symptom Chart and clearing the bins. Liana has been with the pharmacy for more than 9 years.
