Before you head off overseas, it's important for you and your family to be up to date with all of your routine vaccinations.

Some of these include:

• Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR)
• Polio
• Varicella (Chickenpox)
• COVID-19
• Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis
• Influenza

We can also provide the following vaccinations that may be required in the area in which you are travelling.

Our pharmacist will determine which vaccines you will need in a pre-travel consultation:

• Hepatits A - common for travel to Asia, Africa, Pacific Islands, South America
• Hepatits B - important for long-term travel, health/aid work, or risk of blood contact
• Typhoid - recommended for travel to South Asia, parts of Africa, and other developing regions.
• Poliomyelitis (Polio) - for travel to countries where polio remains a risk.
• Japanese Enchephalitis (JE) - for travel to rural Asia and the Torres Strait; requires extra training for pharmacists.

The chance of getting these diseases may be greater while travelling overseas.

When to get vaccinated

Due to the wide number of countries and different vaccinations & preventable medication available it is recommended that you book a pre-travel consultation with our pharmacists at least 6-12 weeks prior to travelling.

The reason you need to do this so early is:

• your body needs time to develop full immunity
• you may need several doses of a vaccine to be fully vaccinated
