Many commercially manufactured medications are prepared in a form that is inappropriate for paediatric patients. Compounded preparations can be tailored to address the medical needs of a newborn or an autistic child, resolve the treatment-related fears of a pre- schooler, counteract nutritional deficiencies, or improve compliance by rendering therapy less stressful for the caregiver and the patient.
Medications we have compounded for children include:
♦ Omeprazole (flavoured banana or butterscotch)
We can compound medications into a lollipop dosage form. Medications that have been compounded in this dosage form include:
♦ anaesthetics ♦ saliva stimulant ♦ antifungals
We have compounded Melatonin and Vitamin B12 as a sub-lingual drop for children
We have compounded Vitamin B12 as a transdermal cream
We commonly compound medications and supplements free of dye, artificial flavoring, preservatives, gluten, and casein. Often we are asked to compound certain medications such as amoxycillin or melatonin in methyl cellulose to delay the release of the medication until it has reached the intestine.
We often flavour medications to help make a medication more palatable. Choose from the following flavours:
♦ Apple ♦ Apricot ♦ Banana ♦ Bubble Gum ♦ Butterscotch ♦ Caramel ♦ Chocolate ♦ Grape ♦ Lemon ♦ Marshmellow ♦ Orange ♦ Peach ♦ Peppermint ♦ Raspberry ♦ Spearmint ♦ Strawberry ♦ Tropical ♦ Vanilla
